15 Day Photo Safari Uganda

15 Day photo safaris in Uganda takes you to Uganda’s national parks like Kidepo, Murchison, Semliki, Kibale, Queen and Bwindi forest and you will encounter wildlife safaris and gorilla trekking tours with the safari holiday at the shores of Lake Bunyonyi!

Day1: Entebbe – Kitgum

Upon arrival at the Entebbe airport meet with our driver/guide for safari orientation and after embark the safari vehicle and transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park with en-route visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for foot Rhino tracking and lunch, and thereafter continue with overnight stay at Kitgum Bomah Guest House. Meal plan: H/B

Day2: Kitgum – Kidepo Valley National Park (Game Drive)

Breakfast and after embark the safari vehicle and hit the murram road to Kidepo Valley National Park and check in at Kidepo Savannah Lodge for lunch. Evening take a game drive looking for African wildlife species like elephants, lions, zebras, buffaloes among other rare wildlife. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay, Meal plan: F/B

Day3: Kidepo Game Drive & Karamoja Culture

Have breakfast after go another game looking for more wildlife species that were missed on the previous game drive like leopards, lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebra among others. Lunch and spend an evening visiting the Karamoja culture visiting the local communities. Dinner and overnight stay at Kidepo Savannah Lodge – Meal plan: F/B

Day4: Kidepo Valley – Murchison Falls National Park

Early morning breakfast and after embark the safari vehicle and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park for your dinner and overnight stay at Fort Murchison Camp. Meal plan: F/B

Day5: Game Drive & Boat Ride

Have breakfast and after go for the dawn game drive looking for wildlife like leopards, lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, warthogs, antelopes among others. This experience takes 3 – 4 hours, after have lunch and enjoy the boat cruise along the River Nile with the nice view of the wildlife, birds and sightseeing along the shores of the River Nile. Hike to the top of the falls with view of the Nile and Uhuru falls. Dinner and overnight stay at Murchison River Lodge, Meal plan: F/B

Day6: Murchison Falls – Kibale Forest National Park

Breakfast and after embark the safari vehicle and take long drive from Murchison Falls National Park to Kibale Forest National Park with en-route lunch at Kontiki Hotel in Hoima and after continue to the Kabarole region with the fabled view of the mountain of the moon. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibale Forest Camp, Meal plan: F/B

Day7: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Walk

Have breakfast and after go for the chimpanzee trekking tour in the Kibale Forest National Park which is half day experience. Lunch and then in the evening take the Eco nature walk in the Bigodi wetland looking for the rare shoe bill stork, other birds and primates. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay, Meal plan: F/B

Day8: Visit Hot springs – Transfer Queen Elizabeth National Park

Breakfast and after transfer to Semliki National Park visiting the Sempaya hot springs consist of steamy water jetting out of the ground with a strong pungent smell of hydrogen sulphide, boiling at 103 degrees Celsius. Lunch and after transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park for your dinner and overnight at Bush Lodge. Meal plan: F/B

Day9: Game Drive & Boat Ride

Dawn game drive looking of for wildlife species like lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, water and bush bucks among others. This experience takes 3 – 4 hours and after go for lunch and after enjoy the boat cruise along the Kazinga channel offering the wildlife viewing at the shores of the channel. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay, Meal plan: F/B

Day10: Kyambura Gorge Walk – Transfer Ishasha Sector

Breakfast and after transfer to the Kyambura gorge for the chimpanzee walk and on this walk expect to spot more primates and birds. Lunch and after embark the safari vehicle and transfer to Ishasha southern sector and search for the African rare tree climbing lions and other wildlife species like elephants, buffaloes, topi, and oribi among others, Dinner and overnight stay at Ishasha Jungle Lodge. Meal plan: F/B

Day11: Ishasha Sector – Bwindi Forest National Park

Breakfast and after morning game drive looking for more wildlife species like lions, leopards, topi, oribi and looking for the tree climbing lions. Lunch, after embark the safari vehicle and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park where you take gorilla trek the following day. Dinner and overnight stay at Buhoma Haven Lodge/Buhoma Tented Camp. Meal plan: F/B

Day12: Gorilla Trek Uganda – Lake Bunyonyi

Breakfast and after go for the gorilla trekking experience in the jungle, briefing about the mountain gorillas and the forest and after enter into the jungle for the search of the primates and when you meet them take unforgettable photos and videos. Return to the park offices for your gorilla trekking certificate and after transfer to the Lake Bunyonyi with scenic view of the beautiful dotted islands into the Lake. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Bird Nest Lodge/Arcadia Cottages/Bunyonyi Overland Cottages. Meal plan: F/B

Day13: Lake Bunyonyi – Kampala

Breakfast and take boat cruise along the Lake Bunyonyi visiting the beautiful dotted islands after embark the safari vehicle and transfer back to Kampala with lunch en-route at the Flamingo Restaurant at the Uganda Equator and here take photos and shop souvenir’s to take home.  Dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge/Namirembe Guest House. Meal plan: H/B

Day14: Kampala – Jinja White Water Rafting

Early morning breakfast and after embark the safari vehicle and transfer to Jinja via Kayunga highway for the half day white water rafting along the 5 grade rapids of River Nile. Overnight stay at Source of the Smile Hotel, meal plan: H/B

Day15: Jinja – Entebbe – Departure  

Breakfast and after visit the source of the Nile on leisure boat cruise and after embark the safari vehicle with lunch en-route back to Kampala – Entebbe Airport for your return flight back home. End of services

What to wear/bring

Dress codes are informal. Daytime temperatures are generally warm, so bring lots of light clothing, supplemented by light sweaters for the cool evenings and heavier clothing for the higher altitudes especially volcanoes. When tracking gorillas layering your clothing is the best idea and we suggest: long sleeved shirts, cotton or gore tex trousers, strong walking shoes with ankle support, socks that you can tuck your trousers into, light gloves to protect your hands from thorns and nettles, a hat and sunglasses to provide protection against the sun and a water proof jacket in neutral colors may come in handy in the moist mountains. Travel light and remember that soft-sided luggage is required. One medium sized duffel bag and one small day pack (carry-on) per person should bead equate. Laundry services are available at most accommodations. You should also pack some zip lock bags for spare clothing, cameras, binoculars and film. Please note that you are not allowed to use a flash when photographing Gorillas. It is a good idea to take along several different speeds of film (64 to 1000) as gorillas can be found in open sun or in the dark underbrush of the forest.
